Exhibition Hall of the Shirokov House

On the central square of Pavlovsky Posad stands an ancient merchant's mansion, built in the early 19th century by D.I. Shirokov, a merchant of the first guild, an Honorary citizen of Pavlovsky Posad. David Ivanovich Shirokov (1790-1849), a manufacturer and philanthropist, is one of the initiators and organizers of the company's efforts to transform the village of Pavlovo into a Posad (city).

Over its long century, the merchant's mansion has served people in different ways. After D.I. Shirokov's death, his widow and two daughters donated the house to the city, where an almshouse and a hospital were located. The hospital existed in the walls of the house for almost a century until 1975.
In 1994, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the city, the building was restored and an exhibition hall was located in it, which was named the Shirokov House. To this day, the merchant's mansion serves as a cultural center, is a building of cultural heritage of regional significance "Merchant Shirokov's House", gives its visitors a beautiful, eternal, kind.

Over the years of the exhibition hall's existence, many paintings, graphics, sculptures, decorative and applied arts, and photographs have been exhibited within its walls. Special attention in educational work is paid to the issues of local history, patriotism and aesthetic education.

Such famous artists as Zurab Tsereteli, Vyacheslav Zaitsev, Fyodor Konyukhov and many others have exhibited their works.

A new page in the life of the Shirokov House exhibition hall was the opening of the second building in November 2022, where the Pavlovo-Posad Art Gallery is located. During this time, the walls of the gallery were decorated with works by a large number of artists, both local and from all over the Moscow region and Russia. The range of the art gallery's exhibition activities is extensive – from exhibitions of contemporary artists to the art of the past.

The Shirokov House Exhibition Hall and the Pavlovo-Posad Art Gallery provide exhibition spaces for artists of various fields: painting, graphics, sculpture, DPI and other areas.
